This production of Half A Sixpence was the very first in a new venue for Urmston at the Leisure Centre. Congratulations to the stage director and his crew.

It is difficult going into a new venue with all the stage facilities provided, but to go into a venue and erect your own stage, fit tab tracks and lighting and present a production to the public without technical rehearsals, is a mammoth task, which Urmston fulfilled.

Congratulations on an all round young vibrant cast. It was my pleasurable task to present long service awards to members, also to assist councillor Brian Thorpe in presenting the first commendation award in N.O.D.A. NORTH WEST, to Peter Barnett who was the director and M.D. for this production.

IT'S off with the old and on with the new for Urmston Operatics Society which has made the move from Urmston Grammar School to Urmston Sports Centre. Technical Staff from the Society worked night and day to transform the sports centre in Bowfell Road, Flixton into a full scale theatre.

And despite the challenge things were alright on the night of the first production in their new home. The society raised the curtain on the new season
